Exa-Min Technologies announces GBM Mobile software upgrades

 

 

BRISBANE – January 2006 - Exa-Min Technologies announces the immediate availability of a patch to GBM Mobile V3.50 (release 3.50.0037p) to make the product compatible with the new Widows Mobile 5 Pocket PC operating systems for the Pocket PC. 

 

GBM Mobile delivers a complete “out-of-the-box” solution for field mapping and data collection on Windows Pocket PC base Portable Digital Appliances (PDA). The product is based on the MapInfo MapX Mobile and is fully compatible with other MapInfo GIS products and is used extensively on Windows Pocket PC units such as the HP iPAC. Windows Mobile 5 (Pocket PC 2005) is shipping on new PDA equipment in place of Windows Pocket PC 2003 which was provided with most older units. Customers who acquire new Windows Mobile 5 based PDA units should contact Exa-Min for a link from which they can download the patch. The patch is available free of charge to customers who purchased GBM Mobile since October 31st 2005 or who subscribe to the Exa-Min software maintenance program.

 

There are no significant new features in the interim 3.50.0037p release. Customers who are running Pocket PC 2003 based PDA systems and are not upgrading immediately to Windows Mobile 5, do not need to download the patch. Customers who are using GBM Mobile on ike hardware should not install the 3.50 patch. Contact Exa-Min for the special 3.52 release. Significant new features are included in the upcoming GBM Mobile V4.10 which is now undergoing field testing. An announcement will be posted on the Exa-Min web site at www.geobasemap.com when GBM Mobile V4.10 is ready for general distribution.
